Find a Bail Agent Near Broward County

The Broward Sheriff’s Office detention system includes multiple jail facilities, but initial booking runs through the Central Intake Bureau at the Main Jail in downtown Fort Lauderdale. That means the right starting point isn’t just knowing the charge, it’s knowing where the person was booked, whether they’re still at Main Jail, and whether they have already been transferred to another Broward detention facility.

BailBonds.com routes every call to the licensed bail agent closest to the relevant Broward facility. That local familiarity matters in a county where intake volume is high and booking, transfer, and release don’t always happen on the same timeline as smaller Florida counties.

How Bail Works in Broward County

Arrests in Broward County are made by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, municipal police departments across the county, the Florida Highway Patrol, and state and federal agencies. After arrest, defendants are generally processed through the Central Intake Bureau, which is housed inside the Main Jail Bureau. BSO states that the Central Intake Bureau processes arrests from all Broward law enforcement agencies and handles pre magistrate holding, release processing, and custody transfers.

First appearance in Broward County takes place in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit. Just like the rest of Florida, a first appearance must occur within 24 hours of arrest, and the judge considers the factors in Florida Statute 903.046 when deciding whether pretrial release is appropriate and at what amount. Since January 1, 2024, Florida has also operated under the statewide bond schedule in section 903.011 for eligible offenses before first appearance, but that doesn’t replace individualized judicial review.

Once bond is set, BailBonds.com coordinates directly with the Broward facility handling the defendant’s custody. You don’t need to visit the jail or our office. In a county this large, release timing depends on booking volume, staffing, facility assignment, and whether the defendant remains at Main Jail or has already been moved elsewhere in the BSO system.

Broward County Detention Facilities

Broward County’s jail system is operated by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Detention and Community Programs. BSO reports it operates the 13th largest local jail system in the United States, and administers four jail facilities in the county, with more than 44,000 inmates booked into the system annually.

The Main Jail is the county’s maximum security downtown jail and also houses the Central Intake Bureau, which handles booking for Broward law enforcement agencies.

Find an Inmate in Broward County

BSO directs families and visitors to use its Arrest Search application to locate an inmate. Because Broward is a high volume detention system, the most useful starting point is the person’s full legal name and date of birth. If the arrest is very recent, there may be a delay between booking and when the record becomes searchable. In Broward, that delay can matter because intake begins at Central Intake even if the defendant will later be housed elsewhere.

Broward County Arrest Data and What to Expect

Broward’s jail system is large enough that BSO reports more than 44,000 annual bookings countywide, and the Main Jail alone was expanded to hold 1,538 inmates. The North Broward Bureau holds about 1,200 inmates on average, according to BSO. That scale affects how quickly booking records appear, how fast inmates are classified and moved, and how long release can take after a bond is posted.

While straightforward cases may still move reasonably fast, a high volume county jail will have longer processing and release times. Arrests made late at night, on weekends, or during high intake periods often take longer, and if the defendant has been transferred after booking or has another hold, release timing stretches further.

Bond Types We Handle in Broward County

BailBonds.com handles every bond type across all charge categories in Broward County. That includes routine misdemeanor charges, felony bonds, bench warrants, probation violations, violent felony cases, and more complex matters that require first appearance review before release can even be considered.

Because Broward handles a large volume of arrests across many cities and agencies, it’s important that your licensed bail agent understands not just the charge, but how that charge is moving through Broward’s detention and court system. That is especially true when the defendant has already been transferred out of Central Intake or when bond is tied to multiple counts.
